The subconscious mind can be voracious in it’s appetites with overeating, excessive drinking and an increasing reliance on nicotine being commonplace.

It can be really challenging to control consciously, especially if you’re using these outlets to deal with stress, anxiety or uncomfortable feelings.

How do you know if it’s too much? Well, you may notice what I call the ‘domino’ effect, here’s an example using all three: you get home stressed and wired after working late, the first thing you do is reach for a glass of wine to relax. The glass of wine becomes a bottle as it feels good but you don’t sleep well that night as alcohol affects your sleep. Waking up the next day hungover, perhaps anxious, maybe ‘beating yourself up’, your blood sugar is low so you reach for quick fix food, maybe coffee and nicotine will feature throughout the day just to get you through it. Not great but not a problem if it’s occasionally, however if it becomes a regular habit it starts to seriously affect your health, deplete your emotional and mental wellbeing, leaving you feeling under-resourced and below par.

The truth is every problem was once a solution. Perhaps you use alcohol, cigarettes or food in a way that is to your detriment now but in the beginning your subconscious mind would have found them helpful.

Perhaps when you started smoking as a teenager you thought of it as cool and rebellious, it probably doesn’t feel too cool or rebellious anymore! Maybe when you initially began drinking alcohol it was a release and it helped you feel more confident in social situations, it probably still does both of those things, it’s when it’s done to excess that it puts you on the back-foot. Eating releases endorphins and it’s hugely pleasurable, but unless you’re one of the lucky few blessed with a super-high metabolism you probably can’t get away with it like you could as a teenager.

The problem is that the subconscious, which simply doesn’t understand time, doesn’t know this. Your subconscious will always do what it’s always done until it is given a better alternative.

A sure-fire sign that your eating or drinking is subconsciously driven is that it will feel compulsive. You will be eating that fourth helping whilst knowing you aren’t hungry, don’t need it, or even necessarily want it, but you won’t be able to stop. You’ll be ordering that third bottle of wine despite your intuition warning you you’ll feel terrible tomorrow, but you’ll go ahead and order it anyway. When it comes to smoking it’s classically compulsive, with the smoker puffing away and feeling terribly guilty about it at the same time, which only drives them to smoke more.

The answer is to get your subconscious on side. When it comes to eating and drinking the reasons for the over-consumption need to be addressed and your subconscious given healthier, alternative resources for dealing with stress and any emotions driving the pattern gently yet firmly released. With smoking the subconscious mind simply needs to be told how harmful it is and negotiated with to let it go, once and for all. This way permanent freedom from compulsive, detrimental habits can be achieved.

So to this end I am offering two limited offers from today and up until the end of March for new and existing clients:

1. For any of your struggling with any compulsive consumption issues I am offering 3 sessions for the price of 2.

2. If you, or anyone else you know, have a desire to stop smoking then I am offering to see 2 people for the price of 1. Your sessions will be separate but you can split the cost with a friend. Each smoking session is 2 hours, includes a live recording MP3 and a free back up session for you to use, if you need it, within a 6 month time period.

To your success!
