Most of us desire to be more confident in a certain area or areas of our lives. Many clients that walk into Zoë Clews & Associates, looking for freedom and resolution from their problems in life, are confident in some areas but lack it in others: they may be confident in relationships but will do anything they can to wriggle out of public speaking, or they may find it relatively easy to excel at work but are riddled with self doubt when it comes to intimate relationships. Saying that, we also see clients who are lacking confidence in all areas and that’s when life really does get pretty painful.

Because self confidence is such a natural and basic resource, lack of self confidence is often one of the reasons for lots of other presenting problems and difficulties, therefore when I see clients for phobias, weight loss, anxiety etc I will often start by working with their confidence.

Confidence is not only essential in life in helping you survive and manage daily challenges, but it also means you’ll have a better relationship with yourself. Life is considerably easier if you like and accept yourself. Let’s face it we’re pretty much stuck with ourselves so we may as well learn to be our own best friend…and you’d want a best friend that championed you right?

The thing is you were born with confidence and it was those challenging life experiences and ‘knocks’ that lowered your levels of self esteem and self belief. This is why someone who has suffered from a traumatic childhood will often struggle so badly with their self-worth, the earlier you suffer these knocks the more receptive you are to these becoming deeply rooted beliefs and patterns. The reason for this is that our conscious mind – the rational, logical mind, that let’s us know that certain things just aren’t our responsibility, doesn’t develop until round about the age of 9. Before that we are purely operating from our subconscious mind and when we are purely in our subconscious mind we are highly susceptible and easily hypnotised. A lot of people that come to see me especially if they have a visible deficit of self confidence are running patterns and negative beliefs that were established at a very young age, when they simply didn’t, and couldn’t, know any better.

This is the very reason why hypnosis is excellent for changing these patterns, we are using the same process albeit in a very positive way, I often say to my clients that, I am, in fact, actually de-hypnotising them or re-hypnotising them.

As a Hypnotist my job is to change patterns and therefore clear the old fears and doubts that are in the way of you feeling and accessing that natural self assured confidence that you deserve.

Wouldn’t you like to re-claim yours?
