Here at Zoë Clews & Associates, we know just how debilitating depression is and if you, or someone you know, has been suffering with it for a while, it’s likely you’ll have been searching hard for answers and for a solution.
Around 1 in 5 (21%) adults experienced some form of depression in early 2021 (27 January to 7 March); this is an increase since November 2020 (19%) and more than double that observed before the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic (10%) *.
Although depression creates chemical changes in our physiology, the causes of the condition very often have emotional origins, such as a childhood trauma or unresolved grief. But there are other triggers, too – if, as adults, we have gone through a series of negative, stressful or damaging events, we can go through what we call a ‘negative threshold’ which makes us withdraw, feeling unable to cope further.
Depression can often be a subconscious shut-down, in essence the body’s way of protecting you from further emotional pain and it can also be repressed anger and the subconscious mind’s way of ‘shouting’ at you, telling you there are unresolved emotional issues that require your attention.
Depression is directly linked to your sense of self-worth and it’s often driven by the misguided belief that you’re not ‘good enough’.
HOW WE CAN HELP
When using hypnosis, we work with you to understand the belief structures that sit behind your depression and then use the treatment sessions to clear and dismantle those beliefs at a subconscious level, working to undo the mental blockages that are preventing you from moving forward.
Our treatment also allows us to help you to make changes to the way you think, which in turn brings positive changes in behaviours.
One of the most difficult and challenging symptoms of depression is the belief that it is permanent or incurable, feelings that bring with them a sense of hopelessness and despair.
In fact, the reverse is true and we’ve worked with a great many people who have gone on to lead happy and fulfilling lives despite believing fervently that that wouldn’t be possible when they attended their first hypnotherapy for depression treatment with us.

Hear it from our clients…
I’d been suffering from depression for 17 years resulting in various medications and counselling when finally I decided I’d had enough of the constant misery, mood swings, waiting for bad things to happens and feeling of hopelessness that occupied my every waking moment. I turned to Paul as felt conventional treatment was getting me nowhere and nobody wanted to listen. Well Paul did listen and I wish I’d done this years ago after just three sessions I’m the person I was over 17 years ago I can’t describe what Paul has done for me he has given me my life back and so much more, so many people have commented on how different I am, I feel so free and light without that huge burden on my shoulders and happy beyond my wildest dreams. I was hoping to feel a little better but this has surpassed that and I strongly urge anybody suffering to do this. I can never repay Paul for truly saving my life.
The sessions were invaluable to me, and really helped me significantly shift /release some false beliefs and old feelings. I have much more of a permanent sense of wellbeing and underlying self-love, as a result of the sessions with you.
