Welcome to my page! I’m Elaine Hodgins and here at Zoë Clews and Associates I specialise in Hypnobirthing and in helping children aged between two and 18.
My early professional life began as a qualified State Registered Nurse, but I also studied paediatrics and achieved the Pat Lucas Award for the Understanding of Children’s Emotional and Psychological Needs in Hospital.
After bringing up my own children, I set out on a quite different professional journey, using all the knowledge I’d gained in nursing and paediatrics to then qualify in Clinical Hypnosis and Neuro-Linguistic Programming, before also qualifying as a Hypnotist at The Academy Of Hypnotic Arts.
As a mother myself, I know that as parents we all want our children to be healthy, both physically and emotionally. Our children are precious and that’s why it’s really important to me that you know the emotional and physical wellbeing of your child is just as important to me as the wellbeing of my own children.
Many of the behavioural problems among children begin with a little fear or phobia which, if left untreated, can easily escalate into a serious problem. But the majority of these issues can be relatively easily solved.
As adults, treatment for any problem – whether through hypnosis or not – tends to be quite formal: we know we have an issue and we’re actively looking to solve it. For kids, it’s a bit different. Paediatric hypnosis is safe and gentle and I make sure the children I treat have fun in my sessions. Often they don’t even realise they’re being treated at all!
Children’s issues come in all shapes and sizes and bring their own individual worries not only to your child, but also to you. From bed wetting to sleep disorders, tantrums to phobias and OCD to bulimia, they can all be treated relatively easily using a form of hypnosis and cognitive behavioural therapy.
I also treat a great many children with dyspraxia, Asperger’s, autism, dyslexia and many other developmental conditions
Recently, I’ve been studying Neuro Developmental Delay in young children. This highlights how traces of early reflexes can impact a child’s ability to carry out activities which are crucial to their development and learning, and you can find out more about this condition in the Children’s Issues section of this website.
I get huge satisfaction solving children’s issues, but being the Hypnobirthing expert here at Zoë Clews and Associates means I’m also privileged to be a very small part of how a child arrives in the world, too.
Hypnobirthing helps you to nurture yourself during pregnancy, to relax, and to trust your body and your baby. Crucially, though, it’s not prescriptive about how you choose to give birth. It’s about me helping you to have the best birthing experience possible.
In Hypnobirthing, I’m here to equip you to make informed decisions, to have the tools to make it a calm and enjoyable experience, to make sure your birth partner is involved in the way that’s best for both of you and to ensure your baby has the most gentle, loving start in life.
Please note that a parent must be present for any hypnotherapy session involving anyone under the age of 18.
