Finding Peace During Family Stress at Christmas

Finding Peace During Family Stress at Christmas

As December disappears at rapid speed and we hurtle towards the “main event” of the season, many of us, especially those who are neurodivergent, feel a familiar sense of dread rising in our chests. The festive season can be jubilant, but it can also thrust us back into old family dynamics, long-forgotten roles and the emotional dance of earlier versions of ourselves.

If you’ve ever walked through your family’s front door and suddenly felt twelve years old again, you’re in good company. For me, I was an eternal 15-year-old, not dissimilar to Kevin and Perry.

Now that I am more fully embracing my adult self and working as a therapist and coach, I offer ...

Navigating Personality Tests: A Neurodiversity Perspective

Neurodiversity Coaching London

I’ve been exploring personality tests and considering the potential bias against neurodivergent job applicants.  Traditional tests often fail to accurately assess neurodivergent individuals. Our brains function differently and process information uniquely, which can lead to skewed outcomes. However, with some adjustments and careful consideration, we can modify these tests to benefit us instead of hindering us.

But those traditional tests? They’re riddled with biases. The questions often don’t account for the way neurodivergent minds function. They’re built on these “typical” social norms, which, let’s face it, don’t always apply. And the testing environment itself? It can be a minefield of anxiety for ...
